She Spoke of the Second Coming. I Kept Doing What I Was Doing.

Your love is like  cirrhosis of the liver

It was a long time ago - I was a little kid, playing with friends. I watched my parents with their friends, sitting at the table and yacking away. I wondered how bored they must be, just sitting there, talking, It must be horrible.

The other night we were at my brother's house, having dinner. While consuming chocolate dessert that weighed more than my car battery, the kids ran off to play. We talked.

I realized I had become my parents.

I like looking at the blog stats. They're very confusing so occasionally I make stuff up.

In their mad dash to terrorize and demoralize their entire workforce, Amazon is demanding some corporate employees return to the office. In a different city

On the positive side, Amazon usually screws the hourly employees; this time it's Corporate! No favoritism at all. Next month Amazon will require delivery drivers to deliver in a different state.

It turns out that Bezos is horribly jealous of Musk, and the way he horrifies his employees. Bezos figures he won't be a proper billionaire until he properly screws over the people who work for him. Ok, I'm gonna let you in on a little secret. Nobody but the readers of ThermionicEmissions will know... there is no animosity between Bezos, Musk and Zuck. In fact they're all good buddies in their own special club. They have competitions to see how badly they can treat their employees til something happens. They learned it from the president of the club, Bill Gates (international war criminal for inflicting Windows upon the world).

AAAAAAAAAAAH... these people are driving me crazy. Ok, more crazy. It's work. And it's meetings. There is the morning scheduled meeting. Then the (work through) lunch meetings. Then the afternoon meetings. The boss requires a meeting before he does anything. This becomes even more unpleasant when he has to go to the bathroom: BATHROOM MEETING. He manages by consensus, so if we're ever feeling particularly prickly, we could advise him that today is a bad day to go to the bathroom. The funniest part is that since we work from home, he'll be staring right at his bathroom as we tell him he can't go. All day. MUHAHAHA.

Captivity - Day 87 Fractured Femur Follies

It's a beautiful day.
Especially for Wife, as she had to take a sleeping pill last night.
This would explain why she was up most of the night.

Andy Warhol said that in the future, everyone will have their 15 minutes of fame. He was more correct than he knew. There's a site called Cameo, where you can pay a certain amount of money and talk to a.... ummmm.... any number of actors, actresses, washed up celebrities, people you never heard of, YouTube 'stars', 'influencers', radio hosts, rappers, minor characters from tv shows, minor characters from radio shows, models, podcasters, stylists, FURRIES, and anything else you can think of. Check out who's available - even though you've never heard of them. Price varies.   Where was I going with this? It just seems to me that this is the evolution of .... something. Maybe it's setting us up for when we plug into the net with our brains. Or lack of thereof.  It also shows that gender equality is in place in sports reporting: there are a lot of female sports reporters, most are attractive. Let's see.... Andy Dick, Cheryl Tiegs, a Mr T lookalike, and more drag queens than you can shake a lipsitck tube at.  If I were given free choice of one chat, thus far, I'd choose the guy whose description is 'dog rescuer.'

Sure, I'm having a poke at these folks, but readers and the voices in my head tell me that I'm even lower on the ladder than these people.

Related: Richard Dolan (a particularly bright ufo researcher) said mass news and mass tv and mass social networks are the lowest. Also the brightest, so most people consume them. It's a mental prison.

Somebody woke the CDC, probably by accident, and it accidentally issues its latest guidelines about the Flying AIDS.

So I'm sitting at my desk, as I do at work, and I get a meeting notice at the EXACT time the lawnmowing started next door.

While you're fretting about your shaky financial position, caused by the Flying AIDS or something else, know that Ukraine is being forced, by the Department of Defense, to take $250 million in the 2020 Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative.  I sure hope they survive.

Flashback to many years ago:
My musical comedy group was finally playing close to my house.
We were doing our thing, the audience was having a blast, when the lead singer went off-script, stopped the show, and put a beer bottle over my head. He asked the audience if he should pour the bottle over one of us. Unfortunately the one he asked about was me. The audience decided very quickly this was a great idea.

He subsequently poured the entire bottle over my head, which ran down my body. He was amused, the audience was jubilant, and I was..... wet.  I'm a good sport and we finished the gig.

My cohorts  razzed the hell out of me afterwards.
There were only 2 problems: the beer got all over my guitar.
Also, I smelled like a brewery. If the cops pulled me over, I sense they wouldn't believe I don't drink.....

That's show business.
Not really.

It's 22 years after the Phoenix Lights.
In 22 years, we have no solution to the case.
Twenty Two years.
If something that large hovered over a city, most would consider it rather important and possibly a threat to national security. No word on that at all.

There was a 1-2 mile craft hovering over the city of Phoenix, with thousands of people as witnesses.

The military bases in the area all claimed they had nothing in the air.
Later on, one base 'remembered' they had planes dropping flares. These were found to be dropping flares over the Barry Goldwater range. These was the official excuse for the Phoenix Lights. The problem here is that flares don't fall in locked manner that looks like an object, over an area that wasn't the Barry Goldwater range. The lights were from the 1-2 mile craft.

In theory, our monitoring technology (radar, etc) should have seen this craft, from the moment it appeared, whether from space (NORAD) or locally. Did they detect it? Are the radar results available via asking or FOIA (Freedom of Information Act)?

Also mentioned was a feeling of calm. No panic, during or after.
It happened twice.

22 years.
That seems like it would be important, as National Security goes.
Assumptions: it was a test of our technology; it was not seen on radar; it was from Elsewhere and they are afraid to release any info.

I wonder if it would have been handled differently had it appeared over Washington, DC.

Senator Edward Markey (D-Mass) called on Tesla to adopt "common sense recommendations" in Autopilot driver assist to "guarantee the safety of its technology."  Hopefully "common sense recommendations" aren't the same ones going up against the 2nd Amendment. I think the man is unreasonable, demanding Tesla inform customers that it is self-driving, and to install a driver-monitoring system.

The govt never met anything they couldn't make worse with legislation; usually involving monitoring.

The other night we had our single splurge for the week: our favorite restaurant. As you can tell, we spend tons of money on luxuries. While perusing the menu, the waitress came up and said hello. She sounded nice. When I looked up from the menu, I noticed the waitress had a full beard, which is one too many beards for any waitress. I didn't see that coming. After dinner, Mrs lefty said she thought the same thing upon hearing his voice. Great waiter.

Watching tv online is always interesting and frequently surprising. I found a Smithsonian channel, which is a great one to watch. Upon watching, the Smithsonian staff had done wonders with their uniforms. Someone mislabeled the channel: instead of science, it looked like a very intimate Sports Illustrated bikini shoot. Impossibly perfect women, wearing impossible small garments for the viewers' impossible satisfaction. Each was more attractive than the previous one. It actually hurt to watch it, so I went back to looking for science channels.

Remember when Baltimore was hit badly by ransomware?
Legislators will legislate, and there's no exception here.
Maryland proposed legislation will outlaw the possession of malware and prevent researchers from reporting it.
The stupidity is awe-inspiring.
They're passing a law to stop ransomware. Let's examine this, shall we?
It's months ago and ransomware has infected Baltimore. Backups were non-existent, due to incompetent planning and staff, rendering their data gone.
If this law were in place at this time, how would it have prevented the infection?

Much has been written and said about sleep, most of it wrong.
Ever since I was a little monster (I'm a bigger monster now), I tried to find out how sleep worked. It generally worked wonderfully - I hit the pillow and slept til I got up. Then I noticed that I always woke up tired, regardless of how much sleep I got. I asked friends, family, doctors, and pr0n stars; all had different answers, none seemed correct.

Now that I'm married, the search goes on, interestingly enough, with a woman who has the mother of all sleep disorders. Neither of us can figure it out. Because of her sleep disorder, I developed the ability to sleep through a small nuclear detonation, a 44lb dog standing on my chest and circling around, a 23lb dog licking my face and and stealing the covers, and various sentient entities jumping into and falling out of the bed. We both seem to come up with the same conclusion: the less we sleep, the easier we get up and the better we feel. Naturally this is counter to everything we've been told.

If I get 7 hours, I'm tired. If I get 5 hours, I'm ok. On the weekend I can get between 6 and a lot more hours of sleep, and the more I get, the more tired I am. Sometimes it's all I can do to get from the bed to the couch, then I'm ready for my first nap of the day.

We also noticed that at no point do we feel like getting up when the alarm goes off. This is a universal truth. After all this Science, I discovered one truth/trick that is 100% effective, regardless of how much sleep you get: waking up to discover you're a few hours late for work gets you right up out of bed, with no time to be tired (or yawn). It even puts off the need for coffee, for a good few minutes or so.

Cloning my Service Elephant

I've mentioned the Ring doorbell cameras.
So has Amazon: to the police. They gave the police a 'heatmap' of all devices in an area. While the feature was removed, you can be sure that Amazon would never do it again, nor would police expect them to.

You know how some kids were always the last to be chosen in sports? I was that kid.  No, wait, I was next to last. The fat kid was last. The joke was on them because the fat kid knew way more about sports than I did. That was probably a consequence of growing up without a father. I can't blame my mom for not teaching me about sports (even though she still knows more than me to this day).

I played with the neighborhood kids. They gave me the basic idea and I played along. It was fun - we were little kids, we had a huge drive, and it was very hard concrete. My philosophy on sports (philosophy???) is all applied to the one sport I almost liked; bowling. We can face the fact that nobody, except maybe Einstein and famous supercomputers can score, but bowling was good for me: pick up the heaviest round thing* you could find, and throw it as hard as you can toward the white things. You had to knock down as many as possible. I applied this to baseball, tennis, football, and whatever else we played on the concrete. Because I had no fear, public school gym class was.... interesting. I led a strange tribe, called lefty's Lunatics, who jumped over various pieces of equipment, then (here is the important part) landed on their heads. This explains an awful lot, no?

* you have to find a left-handed ball. You think I'm making this up? Nope - it has to be drilled so the left hand can pick it up.

One day the local kids got skates. This was a little foreign to me, plus I didn't have any, so I'd watch. One day I got skates. Needless to say, I wasn't very good at them, probably because I couldn't apply my bowling philosophy to them. It was all I could do to stand. So there I am, in my non-moving state, and I notice the neighborhood smartass coming in my direction, on his skates. So this is the second time I've been on skates and I didn't have the chops to move out of his way. This little bastard was a few years younger, but everyone knew they were going to find dead animals buried in his yard, after they finally pinned the mass murder charges on him.

Think quick, lefty!
I stood there, arm extended, fist closed.
And the little bastard literally punched himself in the nose with my fist.
He went crying to his mommy that I punched him. Can you see me, barely standing there, trying to explain to Mother Mary that The Anointed One ran into ME? This was a good lesson, although I didn't know it at the time. There's always one asshole, who turns out to have a tiny penis and takes it out on the rest of humanity.

I'm thinking of a new career..... . I want to be a Porn Critic. Just like those fancy d00ds and d00dettes in those New York fake news papers and magazines. Go ahead and review the latest Nora Ephron movie - I'll review Nora's Nasty Nuns (God Never Had This in Mind). One of the movies is demonstrably better than the other. I'll let you decide....

If I were one of those snotty reviewers, my entire job would involve writing two words: "Lacks plot."  Being a porn reviewer, who loves the milieu, I can say anything I want and mean it, without being snotty or holier-than-thou.

  • While the anal scenes were spot-on, the fisting lacked realism.
  • When the 12 guys abused the hell out of that 5'2" girl, she kept crying, "More! More!" This is the kind of in-your-face moment that had me rewinding to see it again and again.
  • No. I refuse. No clowns. A porn reviewer has to have his standards.
  • This reviewer has never beheld a movie with such dedication and reverence for the form: of course I'm talking about Greta Does The World. It's the heartwarming story of an (of-age) girl, driving around the world, going around the world. Spreading her message of spreading in many countries. Becoming a world celebrity for f_ckng. It was 90 minutes of pure joy (and countless money shots). Of special mention was the scene where she tried to fsck the entire United States. People argued for and against her message, but her message of love got out, as did many other things. SEE THIS MOVIE.
  • Quick review of Barbara's Bouncy Balloons: normally I enjoy any movie with semi-naked women sitting on huge balloons, bouncing, but this one just didn't... finish. The balloons were all wrong, and Barbara had the rhythm of a child with cerebral palsy and the verbal output of someone with Tourette's Syndrome. Avoid.
  • Very few movies take women into mind, but here's one: A Hard Man (Is Good to Find). The men were all over 10" and the women vacillated between frightened and wide-eyed with naked lust. Ok, it lacked plot. Ok, it might have been unrealistic in spots. But foreplay went on for 43 minutes per scene. A must-see for women. Men should consider it a training film.

How to keep a cat off a Christmas tree
Long time readers may remember Ren, our exceedingly intelligent FDU (Feline Destruction Unit). We got him when he was a few weeks old and he was a precocious little bugger. We only had one cat before (Fred) and he was pretty well-behaved, but died early. Ren grew up and grew and grew, to where he was almost as large and 10 pounds shy of Marshall, the wonder-cocker. Ren would torture Marshall, whose main wish was to be an only child. Ren would also hang from under Marshall, yet they'd sometimes nap together. For some reason, Ren was highly antagonized by the xmas tree. We had one that went up in stages.. maybe he wanted a real one, but he would get into it, push off some very expensive baubles, rewire the lights a bit, and eventually disembowel the tree. It became too much of a problem so I decided to meet him halfway: I took just the 12" top section of the tree and hung it from the ceiling, so he couldn't get it. He tried leaping but failed. We won!!!  Well, not really. By later that day, he figured out how to get it off of the ceiling. We lost. No more trees til he left us. Marshall left the trees alone, unless there was food under them.

Dammit, I hate to be serious, but here goes.

You sure picked a bad time to be Catholic.
If I were Catholic, I'd be out for blood (sorry). There's nothing wrong with the religion - it's the Upper Corporate Administration. Never mind all the secrecy, the trillions in goodies in vaults, and the politics.. they allow and turn a blind eye to pedophilia. This is not acceptable (notice my gentle phrasing, which you don't see often here). This 'secret' has been out in the open for God knows how many years, yet nothing is done.

Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of Buffalo bishop Richard Malone following reports that he kept a secret binder full of the names of accused priests in a closet in his office.

It's so far out in the open, it might as well be featured on a Kardashians show. This is enough proof for anyone, yet nothing will be done.
I'd like to suggest that Catholics, who are innocent of this, jettison the corporate structure. Find different places of worship. Let the collection plate go empty. Most importantly, call for a legal investigation into these evil practices. One child abused is one too many.

Isn't it time?

I don't care who you are or where you live, there are 2 words that don't belong together: breakfast and burrito. The words go together like razorblades and hubcaps. It sounds pretty icky upon first hearing it. But, in trying to be open minded, you figure it has the same thing as other breakfasts. Then you realize you're just fooling yourself. Then your wife brings you one from a convenience store. Then you try it. Then you realize this was a patently ridiculous idea, as egg pieces parachute to your pants. Salsa? On eggs? No. I don't like sausage much, and the place is always out of ham or bacon. So I don't like it.

Now that I type this, I realize there's a hidden conspiracy: wife buys 2 sandwiches and gives me 1. It's disgusting. She gets to eat both of them.  I'm ok with a regular burrito for breakfast. Better yet, ice cream or a malt.
