Celebrate! 9-11

 It's been 20 years.

20 sad years.

We lost around 3,000 people.

The event was used as a pretext for invasion.

The event gave us the Homeland Security industry for spending money and violating rights.

We got an investigation almost as laughable as the Warren Commission.

To this day, most believe the conspiracy theory that two planes brought down the towers.

Architects and Engineers for 9-11 Truth

  • Dick Cheney knew the plane was coming for the Pentagon and had standing orders - Scty Maneta
  • Bush/Cheney stalled the investigation and would not appear in court
  • The explosive thermite was found in the wreckage, which burned for days
  • The Dancing Israelis were discovered to be Mossad and had a video camera to document the event
  • The buildings were designed to take an airplane hit
  • Explosions were heard by a maintenance man, underneath one of the towers - heard on Howard Stern
  • BBC announced the fall of Building 7 almost 30 minutes before it happened
  • The evil villain was known and circulated immediately
  • A major newscaster said it looked like a demolition. Once. Then never again.
  • No planes flew. Except one Saudi plane containing friends of Bush
  • there are several good documentaries on YouTube - there was a lot of science done
  • There was no plane crash in Pennsylvania - it was pure theater
  • the airport screenings are security theater
  • the day before, Donald Rumsfeld announced they couldn't account for trillions of dollars
  • Environment Protection Agency head Christie Whitman assured everyone the buildings' asbestos was safe to breathe

Who benefitted?
The Military Industrial Complex, as usual
The Homeland Security Complex founding and buildup, which continues its expansion today

This Blog Needs More Diversity and Inclusion

Some guy on tv is arguing that more diversity is needed in government, to celebrate a large pool of skills and foster inclusion.

He went on to say he bases himself on Martin Luther King.
I'm not MLK's biographer, but my understanding is that Dr. King wanted black people to elevate themselves, not be given preference because of their color.

ThermionicEmissions would like to thank the president for not bombing Iraq. Or Iran. We predicted the warmongers would win and thus far, they haven't. We need to eradicate constant war and focus on Home.

Dear lefty:
  • Why do so many young ladies post naked pictures of themselves on Reddit?
  • To answer the question accurately, I will need the exact locations of the pictures.

As I type this, the 90 year old neighbor is mowing her lawn. Again. Weekly.
I should probably feel bad I have to be forced to mow mine every few weeks.
We tried to get a service to do both lawns, but she says she likes mowing. Somehow, the list of things I want to be able to do when I'm 90 does not include mowing. Hell, the list of things I want to do now doesn't include mowing.

90 - wow.

I know someone who found out, overnight, he was going into hospice due to  cancer. What do you say in this situation? We don't deal well with death as a society to begin with...

After a period of deep introspection, I decided we need some up to date greeting cards
  • Sorry You're Dying
  • Sorry I Gave You Herpes
  • Can I Have Your Girlfriends (When You Die)?
  • Sorry Your Social Media Accounts Got Hacked
  • I Love to Sing (at funerals)
Hallmark has not responded to my suggestions yet.

Speaking of death and introspection, there will be an auction of the late Burt Reynolds' possessions soon. The items range from credit cards to boots to his one-off Camaro for the Bandit movies.

You and I are nobody (I think). We are extremely unlikely to see our Stuff auctioned after we go wherever we go, if we go at all.

Think about it: somebody had to go into his house and collect these things.
Would you want your entire life to be auctioned off upon your passing? ("I won't care" is one acceptable answer.)

What kind of Stuff will be found post-mortem?
Your collection of 1970s Playboys
Farrah Fawcett and Kim Karsdashian posters
A drawer full of condoms, way past their expiration date
The chair you farted in for the last 30 years of your life
Your collection of belly button lint (from others)
27 small hard drives full of 1980s porn
43 used socks
The password to your Faceyspaces account

It's damn creepy, from the point of view of the living.
It also raises way too many ugly philosophical questions.

I'm Nothing if not Something

A halloween costume of Caitlyn Jenner is causing outrage, prompting cries of disgraceful and transphobic. I wonder where these Social Justice Warriors were when Reagan, The Decider and (Bill)Clinton masks were in heavy rotation. Where were the charges of idiotphobia then?  I have to admit the costume is hilarious, with a dress-like thing and a sash that says Call Me Caitlyn. And what had better be a wig.  BUT WAIT: A second controversy has sprung up over a Lion Killer Costume! These costumers are a delightfully sick bunch.

  • My first job was nine months of sheer hell, dealing with the public at an electronics store that shall not be mentioned (it gave out free batteries and just went under). The job taught me a very important life lesson - that I hate people. And that retail was not my strong suit. But in the interest of fairness, we should all read this article about retail. We can all learn something from it (and it validates hating people).

There's no doubting it: farts are funny, to all ages and sexes (mostly the male sexes). I have often wondered why (because my mind needs to know this sort of thing). Here is a piece on why fart jokes never get old. The old anal exhalation. The wind beneath my sheets. One - single flatulation, stuttering between my cheeks.

  • Homeland Security has raided a gay escort site. Precisely which part of national security is threatened by gay escorts? Are they afraid of outing DC? They have been charged with prostitution and the website was seized. I wonder if the straight services are next. Maybe they'll seal the records for seventy five years, like JFK's.

A bar in Sydney, Australia, has caused outrage by using naked women as fruit platters.  I'm desperately trying to figure out the problem here.  I do have to admit that the bananas were sitting rather tall on one platter. An outraged Social Justice Warrior referred to the practice as contempt for women. Seems more like love for women. All they needed was a guitar somewhere and you'd have my three favorite activities on one table.

  • Speaking of the cheating site Ashley Madison hack, it has been discovered that only about one percent of women who signed up ever actually used the site (men paid, women signed up for free). Where are the Warriors crying about male inequality? Don't delude yourself, guys... women run the planet. The sooner you recognize this, the better off you'll be. The Ashley Madison story is going to get more and more interesting in the coming weeks. For some really sad news, check out some of the passwords used for the site.  IN ADDITION:  Hundreds of thousands of people signed up for the service last week - AFTER news of the hack.  If it weren't for the great stupidity of the Great Unwashed, I'd swear that the hack was just good publicity for Ashley Madison.

Drought? LA County supervisors wash their cars 2-3 times a week. This is an outrage! How can governmental supervisors be expected to wash their own cars?

  • You absolutely cannot PAY for this headline: Unrestricted Urine Flow in San Fran Streets Corroding Metal Light Poles. SF has started using urine-resistant paint.  After 9/11, BART restrooms were closed as a safety measure. The City is obviously protecting the citizens from people using the bathroom in subways. Most surprising, not a word about Philadelphia.

In addition to transgender tv sitcoms and reality shows, transgender porn is on the rise. So to speak. Especially in California, New York, Illinois and Texas. DC is probably number one in underage transgender porn.

  • Man arrested after his dog tests positive for meth. It's a good thing the vet doesn't test Marshall... he'd blow positive for cat food every time.

A PF Chang chef, Jaquan Huston, stabbed another chef, Eliveton Dias, to death in the kitchen during the dinner rush. My wife has been trying to get me to go there for years. As if the food weren't enough to put me off, now I have to worry about danger to my person via chefs with knives. This doesn't seem to be a problem at my favorite pizza place.

  • Roberto Esquivel Cabrera has what some would consider a problem: he has (this stuff kills me) the world's longest penis. He's trying to get some sort of disability payments for it (and him too). He claims that he can't get a job, it hangs below his knees and that women are too afraid to have sex with him (he's still a virgin). Yes, this is a World Record Academy award (Guinness didn't have a category for this). Oddly enough, another record holder is the world's smallest man, at two inches larger (taller) than Mr. Cabrera's Monster Member. We wish him luck. Stardom awaits  when California's porn producers come across this story.  This picture was to the right of the story - they couldn't have picked a better one.

You thought I couldn't top the penis, didn't you?  The wife of a New York administrator claims she has Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from her husband's twisted sexual practices.  So he wore a chastity belt to work. So  he wore diapers and a horse tail during foreplay. So he dressed like a sissy maid and called himself Jessica.

The divorce papers say he engaged in “predatory and extreme depraved antisocial sexual conduct so egregious it shows a blatant disregard for the marital relationship that it shocks the conscience.” Hey now - one person's "predatory and extreme depraved antisocial sexual conduct" is another person's idea of Marital Bliss or bit of good clean fur for an evening.

While the gentleman in question is now without a wife (who has reportedly been safely ensconced in a local nunnery), he has a line around the corner of women (and men) who like a good time. Most are dressed in leather, carrying a box of diapers and a brand new french maid outfit in his size. I'm dying while I'm typing this.

  • A Maine man crashed into a tree while taking a selfie, driving home (oof) this blog's extreme dislike of selfies.

Miyuki Harwood, a hiker missing for nine days has been found alive in a California forest. ThermionicEmissions does not condone the use of Asian driving jokes.

  • North Dakota is the first state to legalize weaponized Unmanned Aerial Devices (shooting and bombing drones) for local police departments. Firing in Fargo, anyone? Bombing in Bismarck? Shooting in Stanley? Murder in Minot?

A package of radioactive material that was supposed to be delivered to an on-campus office at Texas A&M University has gone missing. Perhaps they mistook it for Anthrax. If they try to trace it through the postal service, they're screwed.

  • Firefighters were called out to a farm in England because a curious cow got its head stuck in a chair. After freeing the poor large beast from the chair, it was discovered that this was no ordinary curious cow - it was just Kim Kardashian (for the second time this week).

An Afghan man and women were given 100 lashes in public for adultery. In the US, you get a website, press coverage and a tv show.

SO MUCH FUNK, ONE BLOG CANNOT STAND IT ALL

Once again I'm going to abandon my guitar leanings and give you The Funk. Few solos here... just the almighty groove. I'm talking Sly & the Family Stone.

If You Want Me to Stay is prototypical Sly. This version is from the classic Soul Train program and is done live. The drummer is Bill Lordan, who I know from Robin Trower, a real surprise.  All the way from the phenomena that was The Midnight Special comes Thank You (Falettinmne Be Mice Elf Again). Sly plays guitar on this song (did you know Sly played guitar?). This particular drummer is not Bill Lordan, which seems to work better for the band. I call him Bouncy because I don't know his name but have seen him with the band in other videos. He's all over the place.

Enjoy Higher, from Woodstock. You'll know all these tunes from their studio versions but I was looking for variety and performance. It is rumored that Sly was notoriously late and refused to go on at Woodstock. When the organizers threatened to not pay, Sly asked everyone what they were waiting for. Great performance, great concert.

Unfortunately, time and recreational pharmaceuticals had their effect on Sly, who, at least reading, lived in a van, paranoid and penniless. He's supposed to be getting back on his feet with a little help from his friends. I sure hope so, espcially considering what passes for music on the radio these days.

The Strangest of Coincidences

Yesterday, a number of sites and company interruptions occurred. United Airlines experienced a period of over an hour where their planes were grounded. The New York Stock Exchange had an outage of over four hours. The Wall Street Journal's site was down.

I am not taking a position on this; I am just asking you to put your Thinking Hat on. My Thinking Hat got mixed up with my Bondage Hat, causing all sorts of problems at home.

UNITED

United announced a network connectivity issue was to blame. Shortly thereafter, it became an automation issue. This morning, a router was to blame, along with a semi-technical explanation of how difficult it was to troubleshoot the issue. [While a router can cause a network connectivity issue, I tend to doubt it. Any serious network will have redundancy to prevent outages.]

The computer problem in the airline's reservation system caused the FAA to impose what is known as a ground stop at 8:26 a.m. ET, meaning United flights were not allowed to take off. It lifted the stop for feeder airlines that fly under the name United Express about 15 minutes later, but it took until just before 9:47 a.m. for the ground stop to be lifted for United flights.

An airline official said "there was no hacking whatsoever" in the outage. Homeland Security chief Jeh Johnson assured the public that United's outage was not connected to a computer problem that disrupted trading at the New York Stock Exchange.

In another recent United grounding, several passengers tweeted that they were told the problem was an issue with bogus flight plans being sent to the airline’s computers. United referred to the problem as "dispatching information".

NEW YORK STOCK EXCHANGE

Around 11:30 am, trading on the New York Stock Exchange came to an abrupt halt. According to the NYSE, there was a technical issue. The outage ran until 3:15.

Once again, the Exchange and federal authorities said it wasn’t the result of a hack.  Isn't that wonderful? Little to no information has come out about what caused the outage, but we know, beyond shadow of a doubt, that this isn't a hack. Or terrorism. Or Anthrax.

Related or not, this is the tweet from Anonymous the previous evening:

Also completely coincidental was a tweet from Senator Bill Nelson:

WALL STREET JOURNAL

The website of the Wall Street Jounal went down at about 11:45 am, sorta.  The newspaper's homepage displayed a 504 outage, though other sections continued to function. The 'glitch' was corrected by 12:46 pm.

NBC News' Pete Williams reported that officials do not think the glitches at United and the NYSE are connected, and it's possible that with the NYSE news, The Wall Street Journal's homepage is crashing under intense traffic. [snicker]

COMPLETELY UNRELATED

In California, there have been at least eleven separate cases of someone cutting fiber internet lines.

And there we have it, whatever it is.
There sure are a lot of coincidences here.
Again, I don't have enough information to arrive at a decent conclusion but I wanted to present the facts so far. Odds are we aren't going to hear much more and will be expected to forget it.

Thanks for thinking with me.

Why Did the Politician Cross the Road?

...because the Road Building PAC paid him to.

It was a glorious morning - the sun made a rare appearance and it was almost no-jacket weather. I mention this because I had to go outside to get the dog before I left for work. He was where he always is - facing the neighbors' house, waiting for his morning treat. He likes to ignore me at these times. In fact, this morning he hid in the bushes so I wouldn't see him.  This plan, although ingenious, failed because he didn't realize that there were no leaves or vegetation on the bushes - just bare sticks.

Our good friends at the Department of the Motherland Homeland Security are offering yet another service to make us safer: Family Reunification Program. This is where we pick up families from three South American countries (at the Mexican border, trying to sneak in) and give them free transportation and a special refugee/parole program with “resettlement assistance” and permanent residency.  Pretty soon DHS will be 'helping' with elections, drivers licenses and food shopping.

FOUR RING CIRCUSES

It's no secret that I live in a weird place, with a weird wife and weird pets. And I'm not exactly standard-issue either. But sometimes I long for a life in which gravity is one hundred percent effective and things don't blink in and out of existence with regularity.  Normal life is boring - I prefer something closer to the middle, though....

Yesterday was a pretty good day. Some of the Potholes of Death had been filled. It was better than I had a right to ask for.  I was expecting a good evening too, at least until I got home.

Upon opening my front door, I was greeted by a house full of smoke. It didn't occur to me to panic; instead I ran to the kitchen, from where the smoke seemed to be emanating.  I was full of wonder, wondering what had happened and which denizen did what to cause it.  Maybe the cat had once again taken up his hobby of leaping onto the stove, turning the gas on in the process.  Perhaps the dog had decided to have his cat food warmed first, as opposed to out of the cat bowl.

Nope... the wife was busily attending to the microwave, which housed some formerly exploded and burning potatoes and taken out the device permanently.  I opened windows and turned on fans, relieved that we didn't have to call outside help.  The police and fire folks occasionally stop by for a laugh when they're feeling down.

After that little bit of fun, Existential Agita started to set in. This is the state in which I start to question Stuff in the larger picture, which sometimes tends to be a little frightening. And frightening it was.. I don't know about other people, but I never have any idea what to expect when I return from slaving over a hot computer. Virtual children, Pet Damage, sleeping wives, things hurling themselves at guests, disappearing objects, fire, and people determined to flee the house for purposes of purchasing Code Red (Mt Dew which tastes kinda like maraschino cherry soda, heavy on the caffeine).  Weary, I climbed the steps, only to discover that the bedroom was every bit as full of smoke as the kitchen. Never let it be said that we do anything halfway.

What did this teach me?  That the next day, my coat and all of my clothes smell like exploded potatoes, which was only discovered on the way to work, in the car.  My new colleagues have already developed a healthy distaste for me.. this will only make matters worse (if it doesn't trigger the building's smoke detectors).

Perhaps a little less explosion would be nice.  Less people (and pets) bouncing off the walls. No trips to the Happy Place. No $250 Performance tires on the Hyundai. No $350 pet xrays. Not another idiot hitting the car EVER again. Fewer days in which the house looks like the aftermath of pets playing with explosives. No more of the wife preparing for a lucrative career in Chainsaw Juggling (or fish gutting).

I have good news and bad news for you. Unfortunately I'm not sure which is which, so I'll leave the decision to you, my empowered readers:
  1. The Vatican exorcism course is set for April.
  2. It's sold out.

Something called Azealia Banks, referred to as a rapper, has stated that she wants to f___ the president. I wonder what would happen if JZ stated that he wanted to f____ Michele Obama [Barack would be horrified and Michele would be on the first plane to LA].  Ok, bad example.  What if Bill Maher said he wanted to f___ Michele Obama. [Michelle would be on the first plane to NYC].  Ok, I give up, but you get the idea.

How to Get Rid of the TSA

The TSA, under the Department of Homeland Security, is the most hated governmental entity since the IRS, and with good cause.  You have no doubt read about the gropings, if not having participated in them.  The thing that surprises me the most is that people seem resigned to the invasion.

But I finally have it figured out.  The TSA simply has to state that women are not permitted more than one pair of shoes per trip.  That should end the misery quickly.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

Know that feeling...

....where you think you have to go to the bathroom but you already did?  It's called deja-poo.

....when you have to get in line to sign up to wait in line for an iDevice?  It's call deja-queue.

....when you know someone's name but forget it immediately?  It's called deja-who.

....where you want to buy something but wait til it goes on sale?  That's called deja-Jew.

....when you watch a marsupial walk by, then its mother afterwards?  That's called deja-roo.

....where you wash your kid's hands and he immediately gets dirty again?  That's called deja-goo.

....when your stomach medicine causes heart attacks then brain cancer?  That's deja-sue.

....when your cat farts and five minutes later the dog farts?  It's called deja-p.u.

....when you have to reboot Windows, install an upgrade, then reboot again?  That's deja-suck.

....when you're on a trip and your wife stops at every rest area?  It's called deja-loo.

....when your wife's pregnant and you find out you're having twins?  That's called deja-two.

....when you have McDonalds for breakfast and Burger King for lunch?  It's called deja-moo.

....when Scooby sneaks up on Shaggy, then they see a ghost?  That's deja-boo.

[no one said they're all going to be gems]

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

So it's Monday, the worst five days of the week.  In case you haven't figured it out yet, let me put it in black and white for you: every day is Monday.  To make my first Monday of the week more interesting, I got to my desk to discover that one of my computers wasn't on.  Happy Monday.

I immediately suspected a coworker.  For some unknown reason, someone likes to shut off the power strip.  I fail to grasp the humor.  So I checked it and hit POWER and the computer happily continued to do nothing.  Once more, reseating the power plug, produced a blinking power indicator.  This is not a happy blinking.

Some computers blink away happily, like a hard drive indicator light.  Some blink just to brighten the days of their owners.

This one mocked me.

When older Dells blink yellow, that's a really bad sign, usually indicating that the power supply or motherboard or cpu is toast.  This time it blinked green, indicating.... well... indicating that I've never seen a blinking green before.

Funny... I spent a bit of time Friday troubleshooting a nasty hissing and popping in the audio.  Hmmmmm......

#*#&@)$&$#_)(

DAMMIT - I'm too old for this shit.  I graduated from desktop work years ago.  I shouldn't have to fix my own computer... it's like bad karma or something.   Hey, the new guy is here for training - let's make him fix my computer.

No, it's my computer and if I want it done now and done right, I was going to have to fix it myself.  Plus the new guy probably uses a Mac or something.

Now it was time to call upon my years of desktop work.  And calling upon it got me exactly what happens whenever I have to call upon something from my past: blank stares and darkness.  Sometimes sneezing.

I couldn't help but notice that I just cleaned off my troubleshooting area in preparation for a reshuffling.  Along with cleaning, I put stuff away.  THIS WILL TEACH ME never to clean or put anything away ever again.

As the computer flatly refused to power up, I went for the obvious; the power supply.  Gravity assisted me in my endeavors, causing two of the four screws to disappear into the void of the carpet.  At this point I figured it might be a good idea to see if I had a replacement power supply (I'm mentally gifted, you know).

Of course I had replacement supplies.  I had them in every color, size, and connector.  I even had one that would fit exactly, much to my amazement.  As long as I was being amazed, I amazed myself by getting both remaining screws into the power supply so it would sit there.

After briefly rewiring, I plugged it in and POOF.

No, I did not let the Magic Smoke out.  The unit came to life, surprising the hell out of me.  It's detours like this that I don't need.

In the midst of my repair, I got a call from the wife, who drove me to work.  Our mentally gifted cocker spaniel (it runs in the family) is once again discovering the joys of Dunkin coffee.  He hasn't done it for a while... perhaps he got bored.  He pries off the lid and goes snout down into the Dunkin Coffee Goodness. Apparently we need a locking cup because he was on his fourth try.  He's nothing if not tenacious.

Happy Monday.

Eleven Years of Slumber

Today is the eleventh anniversary of one of our country's saddest days: 9-11-01.
I salute those who lost their lives in this tragedy, as well as the ones left behind.
We mourn our losses, individually and together.

What has happened in the years since 2001?

No one has been held accountable for the multiple failures of our government and federal agencies to protect the citizens.

  • NORAD changed their timeline three times.
  • The acting head of the Joint Chiefs blew off the emergency to go over unrelated testimony.
  • Donald Rumsfeld was helping paramedics instead of his Secretary of Defense job.
  • Our armed forces were completely absent.
  • The head of the EPA said the air was ok to breathe.
  • Our media published exactly what they were told.  No effort was expended to investigate.
  • The 9-11 Commission's finding document is second only to the Warren Commission report in pure fiction.
  • Trillions of dollars were acknowledged to be missing from the budget.
  • To question the official conspiracy theory is to be branded unpatriotic.
  • Our `leaders' ran and hid.  That is all.

In fact, the only real effect of 9-11-01 is the curtailing of the Constitution and our rights.
The era of the Patriot Act: ready on 9-12-01, signed and never read by Congress.
The establishment of Homeland Security, including our good friends the TSA.
The only thing new this year is killer drones, flying all over the globe.

My heart is heavy for my great country on this day.  America used to be the beacon of freedom to the world.  Now its citizens eat what they're fed without question.  The only issue is which idiot to vote for in November.

And we are no more safe than we were before that sad day.

Should We Continue Business as Usual?

OBAMA APPOINTS MONSANTO'S VICE PRESIDENT AS SENIOR ADVISOR TO THE COMMISSIONER AT THE FDA

Considering the fact that Monsanto just bought Blackwater, we may soon be the United States of Monsanto (by force?).  Again, it's incestuous.  Look at the appointees and long-term government employees.

Airport Screeners to Be Monitored for Radiation

Hundreds Threaten Suicide At Microsoft Supplier Plant In China

Define `extreme cruelty'.
At first I thought they were being forced to use Windows (I'd threaten suicide too).  No, they were demanding a wage increase.  Foxconn and China may have something to teach us after all....  and it will no doubt show up in your Xbox purchase.

Ron Paul News

CNN’s Ron Paul Reporter Admits Bias: “Worried” About Paul’s Success

You mean they're not fair and balanced, like Fox?

Does the Establishment Media Fear Ron Paul?

Is it mostly rainy in England?

Ron Paul won second place in New Hampshire.  This is his second finish in second place.  Remember that when you hear that he's not electable.  Remember that Paul's positions have been consistent over his time in office; they have not waivered or flip-flopped.  You know exactly where he stands on any issue, regardless of how you feel about it.  Try that with any other establishment politician.

Obama is a grave disappointment but not a shock.  He is simply Bush in a darker shade.  The fact is that Ron Paul does not represent the establishment, like the others.  All of these clowns are establishment pawns, ready to do the bidding of their corporate masters at our expense.   This is why the mainstream media barely mentions his name - they're terrified.  All sorts of groups are terrified and I see that as a good thing.  Voting for anyone else in the false republican/democrat paradigm is a wasted vote.

No one is perfect:  I disagree with Paul on abortion (he's against it).  He's a Conservative Christian.  We make the strangest bedfellows, yet I think he's our only hope.  He will uphold the constitution and he's the only one who will.  Bush and Obama continued the dismantling of our sacred document, right by right, chipping away with the aid of an impotent and corrupt Congress.  Romney is another lapdog who will continue the game.  Newt bends whichever way the wind blows (not to mention his failed Contract with America) and Santorum is religiously addled, among other things.

In Iowa, Paul owned the thirty and under vote.  Independents changed their registration to republican so they could vote for him.  He raises huge amounts of money and has serious internet support, which you will not hear about in the media.

Don't vote for the lesser of evils: vote for our country and our rights.

Moron of the Month Award

This is my first Moron of the Month award and I'd like to proudly present it to the city of Springfield, IL, for getting the city's water supply hacked from outside.

As usual, I have questions:

  • Why is something so important as a city's water supply accessible via the internet?
  • Why do people who should already know better continue to make these idiotic mistakes?
  • Why did it take up to two months to investigate this as a hack?

Unimpressed by the Springfield fiasco, a hacker called "pr0f" got into the Houston, TX, water supply, drew a diagram, then cracked the three-character password used to `protect' their water supply.  He caused no damage while inside.

But do not panic, good people.  The Department of Homeland Security stepped right up to let us know that "At this time, there is no credible corroborated data that indicates a risk to critical infrastructure entities or a threat to public safety."

Feel better now?  Someone hacked into Springfield's water system and burned out a pump.  Then someone hacked into Houston's water system and drew a network diagram, complete with three-character password.  But there is no threat to public safety here, folks.  Nothing to see here - just go home.

These people must be related to the ones who watched ufo's fly over the White House in 1952 and declared that there was no threat to national security.

-----------------

Let me see if I understand this correctly:  we have lost many of our constitutional rights to Homeland Security, yet Homeland Security can't secure the knot tied in a child's shoe?  We have to take off our shoes and carry less than three ounces of liquids when we fly, yet important infrastructure is wide open on the public internet?

Are you mad yet?

P.S.  Your medical records are next.

We Say Night, DHS Insists Day

Matt Drudge, and by extension, Alex Jones, are apparently doing something right.  They might not even know it yet, but they are.  I know it because I just read that Homeland Security Secretary Janet 'Privacy for Lunch' Napolitano is upset at them.

Why, you ask, is Napolitano upset?  Because of Drudge's characterization of her as an ogre and the nickname chosen for her (Big Sis).  Janet says that Drudge is just plain wrong in his claims that DHS is spying too much.  And Hitler was not anti-semitic.

You know you're doing well when you start to appear on their radar publicly.  Rest assured he's on their radar privately.  It's when they start commenting publicly that we notice things are changing.  This blog got a comment from the TSA's public relations people a while back.

The Homeland Security chief called privacy concerns "overblown" and offered praise for the proliferation of surveillance cameras in some big U.S. cities.

These are the scary ones, folks.  The ones who look you right in the eye and tell you they're not stealing from you (as their hands are in your pockets).

10 Facts That Prove Big Sis Is Wrong, Drudge Is Right

Remember:  Homeland Security isn't.  The Partiot Act wasn't.
Take the name of a program and turn it around to get a better understanding.

As for Alex Jones, he's worth a listen.  Drudge got turned on to Jones a short time ago and has been running some of his headlines.  You can catch Jones via his website, GCN radio, and even shortwave radio.  He's a bit over-the-top but he usually has the real news long before (or instead of) the others.
